Cedar shakes and shingles have been used worldwide for centuries and have proven records of performance. Made from an internationally recognized durable wood specie, the natural heavy shake product can last for over fifty years.

Star Lumber has recently established a 20/25-year warranty for natural cedar shakes and shingles. FSR Treated Products fire retardant cedar shakes and shingles also have a 30/50-year limited warranty. For high humidity regions, CCA treatment has a 30/50-year limited warranty against fungal decay.

These warranty periods have been established from centuries of product use, unlike new products that have 50-year or lifetime warranties and no real-world experience.

Look for the ICC ESR 1208.

Higher quality shakes and shingles will provide better performance than low quality material. This is why every bundle of shakes and shingles manufactured by Star Lumber mills (Green River, and Black Hawk) carry approvals from the International Code Council Evaluation Services. Look for the ICC ESR Number.
